Valley of Cumberland holds Fall 2016 Capping Ceremony and Service Awards
The Cumberland Scottish Rite held its Spring Capping Ceremony and Service Awards on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Cumberland Masonic Temple.
Venerable Master Hon. Charles W. Taylor, Jr., 32°, KCCH, welcomed members and special guests and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Senior Warden Robin Summerfield, 32°, offered the invocation, Secretary-Registrar Ill. Jerome F. Robinette, 33°, served as Master of Ceremonies, and Wise Master of the Chapter of Rose Croix Hon. James M. Snider, 32°, KCCH, provided an outstanding reading of “If your Ring could speak.”
Distinguished guests in attendance included Sovereign Grand Inspector General of Maryland Ill. Marlin Mills, 33°, MWPGM Ill. Benny G. Owens, 33°, Maryland Scottish Rite Executive Director Ill. Fred Spicer, 33°, and Personal Representative Emeritus Ill. Paul G. Shircliff, 33°.
Bro. Robert W. Hamilton, 32°, and C. Frederick Myers, 32°, received service awards for forty and forty-five years, respectively.
Personal Representative Ill. Jamey S. Hill, 33°, presented prayer caps to three new members of the Cumberland Valley – Bro. David Alan Tibbetts, 32°, of Choptank Lodge No. 138, and Bro. Kenneth Tyler Alkire, 32°, and Bro. Eric Justen Filsinger, 32°, both members of Kemp Lodge No. 154.
Following remarks by Personal Representative Hill and SGIG Mills, the brethren retired to the dining room to share refreshment and fellowship.
